Comparison

Trainda vs CoCoach: group coaching, fees and nutrition compared

Trainda and CoCoach both let an online coach run group coaching with a community, next to 1:1 coaching, with client payments in the same app. The difference is the contract. CoCoach sells a group coaching business model as a partnership: one start date a month, an ongoing program priced as a membership of about €70 a month per client, a growth team on CoCoach's payroll, and one fee on what you sell through CoCoach, agreed in a call and not published on its pages. By CoCoach's own description, the model needs a name people already trust and follow. Trainda sells the tools for the same kind of group coaching as software at a published price: group coaching with tracks and a community for each group, membership billing through a Stripe account you own, extra coaches free, for €29, €65 and €139 a month at 10, 30 and 50 clients, or €49, €85 and €139 with card payments, without VAT, with no share of your sales, no sales call to start and no audience requirement. Trainda also brings the full 1:1 and nutrition toolkit: meal plans, recipes and a food diary. Trainda has been running since 2019, with over 400,000 people coached.

Choose Trainda if

  • You want a flat published price and client payments in a Stripe account you own, with no share of your sales to Trainda.
  • You want to start today without a sales call, whatever the size of your audience: Free takes one client with no card, and Pro10 and Pro30 start with a one-month free trial.
  • You coach 1:1 and groups with nutrition in the same app: meal plans with each client's targets, recipes and portions that scale to them, a barcode food diary, and AI that drafts any recipe you describe or paste as text, with macros from the ingredient database.

Choose CoCoach if

  • You want a growth team on CoCoach's payroll: a named business developer and ads and marketing specialists working on your launches.
  • You want a migration team that moves your clients, prices, programs, templates, recipes, lessons and chat history, and gives you branded announcement material for your clients.
  • You already have an audience and want CoCoach's monthly launch playbook: one sales week and three growth weeks per intake.

Worth checking before you choose

  • What the fee is as a percentage and what it is charged on: every payment that goes through CoCoach, or only the clients it brings you? Its FAQ promises no fee on clients you bring, so ask what counts as brought by you.
  • What happens to the fee on clients you win during the partnership through your own content and launches, and what you pay for them if you leave.
  • Who keeps the client data and the client relationships if you leave, and how you take them with you.
  • Whether the client app appears under your own name in the App Store and Google Play: on CoCoach's pages the app shows your name, icon and colours, and the store listing is the shared Online Coach app. In Trainda, your logo and colours come with Growth, and own-name store apps with Enterprise.
  • What happens when you take on more clients than your plan includes: are you blocked, moved to a bigger plan, or billed per extra client? And who counts as an active client? In Trainda, a paid plan never blocks a new client: each extra client is billed monthly, €10 on Pro10, €8 on Pro30 and €6 on Growth, and counts once however many coachings they are in.

The same kind of group coaching, a different contract

CoCoach and Trainda describe the same way of coaching: a group with a shared community, an ongoing program, a membership the client pays every month, and 1:1 coaching next to it for those who want more. CoCoach sells it as a partnership and says itself that the model needs a name people already trust and follow: a growth team on its payroll, a monthly launch rhythm, and one fee on what you sell through CoCoach, agreed in a call.

Trainda sells the tools for it as software, at a price on the pricing page. You set up a group coaching with tracks and a community, sell it as a monthly, quarterly or yearly membership through a Stripe account you own, add your coaches for free, and keep what your clients pay, less Stripe's own processing fees; card payments cost €20 a month on Pro10 and Pro30, are included in Growth, and have a one-time opening fee. No sales call to start, no audience requirement, no share of your sales.

Group coaching in Trainda

Trainda runs group coaching and courses in the same account as your 1:1 coaching. Each group coaching can have its own community with topic areas and threads, and a group can grow to hundreds or thousands of clients. Tracks let one group follow different programs: a questionnaire you build can pick each client's track, and a client can move to another track when their needs change. A starting sequence you build, reused through templates, takes every new member through the same first steps. Courses start when the client buys them and run at the client's own pace. Extra coaches are free on every paid plan.

Nutrition in Trainda

You set each client's calories, macro split and meal timing, and you can change them from one nutrition block to the next. A check-in can calculate the client's energy need with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and set the calorie target, with your adjustment and a minimum, and a helper sets protein and fat in proportion to body weight. Recipes and portions scale to those targets on their own, and the meal plan builder suggests recipes that fit the meal's macros.

Saw a recipe trending on TikTok? Describe it or paste the recipe text, and Trainda's AI drafts it for your library: ingredients, method and servings, with macros calculated from the ingredient database. Check it, save it, and it scales to every client's targets. You start with around 100 ready-made recipes, and your library grows with the dishes your clients actually ask for.

Clients log meals in the Trainda app by scanning a barcode or typing in calories and macros. A recipe from their meal plan logs with its macros filled in, scaled to the servings eaten. You see every logged meal and each day's calories and macros against the client's targets.

All of this comes with every Trainda plan, and recipes and meal plans go into any 1:1 coaching, group coaching or course you sell.

Questions coaches ask

Is CoCoach cheaper than Trainda?

CoCoach publishes no price, so there is no euro figure to compare. Its FAQ names one fee on what you sell through CoCoach, agreed in a call, with no fee on clients you bring. Trainda's price is published: €29, €65 and €139 a month at 10, 30 and 50 clients, or €49, €85 and €139 with card payments to a Stripe account you own, without VAT, plus a one-time card payment opening fee of €50 on Pro10 and Pro30 or €179 on Growth. Billed yearly, Trainda costs €299, €659 and €1,299 a year (€539, €899 and €1,299 with card payments). Trainda takes no share of what you sell, so the only way to compare is to ask CoCoach for its percentage and multiply it by your monthly sales.

Does Trainda take a share of my sales?

No. Trainda takes 0% sales commission. Payments go through Stripe to an account you own, and Stripe's own processing fees you pay directly to Stripe. Card payments cost €20 a month on Pro10 and Pro30 and are included in Growth.

Can I run group coaching on Trainda the way CoCoach describes it?

Yes. In Trainda a group coaching runs next to your 1:1 coaching in the same account, with its own community with topic areas and threads, and a group can grow to hundreds or thousands of clients. Tracks let one group follow different programs: a questionnaire you build can pick each client's track from their answers, and a client can move to another track when their needs change. You sell the group coaching as a recurring membership billed monthly, quarterly or yearly through your own Stripe account, or as a one-off package, and recipes and meal plans go into it like any other content. Extra coaches are free on every paid plan.

Do I need an audience to start on Trainda?

No. Trainda is self-serve: start on Free with one client and no card, or on Pro10 or Pro30 with a one-month free trial, and pick monthly or yearly billing at checkout. No sales call is needed to start, and nobody asks how large your audience is.

Does Trainda have meal plans and a food diary?

Yes, in every plan, including the Free plan for 1 client. You set each client's calories, macro split and meal timing, and recipes and portions scale to those targets. You start with around 100 ready-made recipes; for any other dish, describe it or paste the recipe text, and Trainda's AI drafts the ingredients, method and servings, with macros calculated from the ingredient database. Clients log meals by scanning a barcode or typing in calories and macros, and you see each day's intake against their targets.

Do extra coaches cost more in Trainda?

No. On every paid Trainda plan you can add coaches to your account at no extra charge.

Which languages does the Trainda client app support?

Five: Finnish, Swedish, English, German and Estonian. Each client picks their own language. The coach dashboard is in Finnish and English.
